Christmas Celebration Across the Country and Worldwide
Today, Christmas, the largest religious festival of the Christian community, is being celebrated across the country and around the world. This joyous occasion commemorates the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, the savior of humanity. The festival embodies themes of rebirth, new beginnings, forgiveness, peace, and the renewal of relationships with God and fellow human beings.mmm
The celebrations include the decoration of Christmas trees with colorful lights, special prayers, the distribution of gifts to children, and the exchange of greetings among friends and family. Christmas carols and hymns are sung before and after prayer sessions at churches, adding a spiritual and festive ambiance to the day.mmm
In his Christmas Eve message, President Mohammed Shahabuddin extended warm greetings to the Christian community. He highlighted that Bangladesh is a nation of communal harmony, where people of all faiths freely practice their religions and traditions. He called upon everyone to work together for a happy, prosperous, and non-communal Bangladesh.mmm
President Shahabuddin also reflected on the teachings of Jesus Christ, emphasizing values like love, compassion, forgiveness, affection, empathy, and justice. He stated that Jesus advocated for spiritual happiness through renunciation, restraint, and charity, making his ideals timeless and relevant for establishing peace and harmony in today's troubled world.mmm
Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus, in a separate message, expressed hope that Christmas would further strengthen the bonds of camaraderie and harmony between the Christian community and other religious groups.
The day is marked as a public holiday, allowing people to participate fully in the festivities and prayer.
